Yuni Lee: Balance
March 18 - April 15, 2017
Ro2 Art |
(Dallas, TX) Ro2 Art is pleased to present Yuni Lee’s solo exhibition ‘Balance,’ featuring the artist’s stunning and expressive new paintings. In her new series of work, Lee strives to portray the “strange and beautiful circumstance that is humanity” and our relationship with the natural world around us. By contrasting natural elements, such as flowers, trees, and animals, with man-made structures and technology, Lee aims to communicate her personal opinions on environmental consciousness.
In her artist statement, Lee shares her view that “in understanding that the human influence on the environment is as much a part of nature as what is born from the earth, that we can find balance in our habits and perception, and beauty in what is both taken from, and given back to, the Earth.” |

Yuni Lee |
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Yuni Lee received her MFA in painting and drawing in 2016 from UNT in Denton. She remains in North Texas as an active member of the contemporary art community and is represented by Ro2 in Dallas. “My works seek to elaborate on the link between humanity and nature. I’m trying to translate the familiar and strange in the elegant patterns around us, as well as describe my thoughts on environmental consciousness. In my work I choose natural paradigms: flowers, trees, leaves, fruit, and animals, and I contrast that with human made structures, machinery, technology, etc. by juxtaposing these themes and shapes organically and rhythmically using recycled mixed media as well as traditional painting techniques. My goal is to create discrete moments that can relay the strange and beautiful circumstance that is humanity and our place in the natural world. I feel that in understanding that the human influence on the environment is as much a part of nature as is what born from the earth, that we can find balance in our habits and perception, and beauty in what is both taken from, and given back to, the Earth.” - Yuni Lee |
