Sandra Pani was born in Mexico City in 1964. Her early art instruction included training under Silvia H. González, Perla Krauze, and Teresa Cito, and studies at the Studio Arts Centers International in Florence, Italy (1986-1987), and the Chelsea School of Art in London, England (1988-1989). She completed graduate studies at Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, ENAP, Mexico City (1989-1992), and has worked as an artist since 1988. Her honors include membership to Sistema Nacional de Creadores, Fondo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes, 2007; 1988 Artist Grant, Beca para Creadores Jóvenes, Fondo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes; 1992 Honor Award from the Diego Rivera Drawing and Engraving Biennial, Guanajuato; and a 1991 Artist Grant from Beca para Jóvenes Creadores, Fondo, Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes. Since 1990, Pani has taught painting and drawing to adults, adolescents, and children from three to thirteen.
