Sam England - Anima
Sam England was born in Greenville, Texas in 1988. He has earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Texas A&M-Commerce and has continued to be very active in the North Texas art community. He has also served as president of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Art Club and Co-Director of Crash Collective. Sam has participated in numerous exhibitions and as part of collaboratives, and was recently a visiting artist at CentralTrak, UTD's Artist Residency Program.

For bunnies & dinosaurs, England evokes myths and symbols of the universal unconscious by cutting out specific positive shapes from his paintings, directing the viewer’s attention toward specific symbols. Using traditional methods of oil painting, he creates a convincing two dimensional space within a three dimensional format, bridging the gap between old and new techniques of viewing and making art. Themes explored include the attraction of opposites and mankind’s relationship to the natural and spiritual worlds. A narrative of the nocturnal world unfolds for the viewer, inhabited with facets of hope and creative energy.
