
Robert Walker
Robert Walker is a contemporary realist who focuses primarily on portraiture and still life. He started drawing and painting at an early age trying to emulate his artistically inclined father. This fondness of drawing intensified in high school where the love of oil pastels was formed. While the love never faded, he shifted his focus to engineering and achieved his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Texas Tech University. In 2011 he was involved in a devastating accident, which resulted in the amputation of 2 fingers from his dominant drawing hand. He was forced to relearn how to do basic things such as opening doors and buttoning his shirt. Even so, he was determined to create art again regardless of the setbacks. Through much persistence he taught himself to how to draw again, becoming fascinated with pushing the boundaries of his physical limitations and the traditional limitations of pastels in the art world. Today his Today his detailed works in soft pastel reflect the precise mind of an engineer and the and the perseverance to continuously pursue his passion for art. He resides in Dallas, Dallas, TX where he was born and raised.
