Artist Bio
As a full time unit publicist working to collect marketing and promotional material for feature films during production, I have found an outlet through art to express myself and let it all go, as they say. My process involves free movement on canvas building layers on top of layers. After some time, I take a step back and start removing some of the layers. It feels a lot like life and the journey through personal growth and self-awareness. Sometimes you work to cover the ugly mistakes and the painful past but when you look at the full picture and start scraping away at the new prettier, bolder and brighter coats, what you find underneath can result in something just as beautiful. This is my process. Often times I do it on the floor of my porch with an old towel protecting the wood slats. It’s a makeshift paradise where I can be free to work through my own layers and have fun. These pieces were painted by my boyfriend Eric and me. We spent an afternoon painting with no goal but to play and relax. Eric was about to throw out his piece when we decided to start spray-painting our faces onto his messy canvas. Taking turns adding layer after layer we built something we’re proud of. They’re not perfect but they’re ours. |
