Jeff Parrott
Psyexpression Manifesto
February 11 - March 11, 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Dallas, TX) Ro2 Art is excited to present Jeff Parrott’s solo exhibition Psyexpression Manifesto, the artist’s incarnation of the idea that “our minds [create] raw reality in data imagery sound and thought. Recording the data is the human code of reality. By expression of painting one’s mind through MANIFESTING, one's Imp/Expressionism's create reality into a new paradigm of dimension and awareness.”
The often uncanny, capricious, mercurial entities and otherworldly creatures “stuck in a place in space, stuck in a state of frenzy” themes in Jeff Parrott's works have in common the artist’s fascination with anything created, whether animate or inanimate. Parrott is known for his bright colors, strange psychedelic images, psyche, painting the totality of the human mind, conscious and unconscious.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jeff Parrott discovered his interest in art during college, defining a style for his art which included creatures portrayed in distorted, psychedelic forms. He implemented bright colors into the mélange of images that flowed from his inner thoughts, splayed out onto the canvas. While attending Texas A&M Commerce, Jeff was invited to participate in numerous exhibitions, winning awards, and twice becoming a finalist for The Hunting Art Prize. Jeff Parrott graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing in 2010.
After receiving his BFA, Jeff was accepted as a graduate student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he began to realize a transformation into being a fine artist. Spending whole days and nights in the studio overlooking Millennium Park and Lake Michigan, he looked for ways to transpose the chaos around him onto canvas -- reflecting the barrage of noise and energy of Chicago. After receiving his MFA from SAIC, Jeff chose to return to Dallas to pursue his artistic career.
Since returning to Texas in 2012, Jeff Parrott has remained dedicated to his studio practice, and has had solo exhibitions with Ro2 Art and The Town of Addison as well as being included in important exhibitions at El Centro College and The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, and featured in Dallas Art Fair with Ro2 Art. He was included as a third time finalist for the Hunting Art Prize, and has been published in the prestigious quarterly publication, New American Paintings.

My art transliterates my relationship to interiors, the natural environment, and my studio a place of isolation and ritual. Depth of color and enchanting forms with their shapes race through psychological states and dimensions battling other extensions of reality. I transcribe one brushstroke onto the next, charting my mindʼs eye with and through my hand and fingers onto paper or canvas. These spurting contours seem to develop from a fury of unconscious processes in my brain. They begin transforming themselves and multiplying to form layers.
