Phallon Lauderback Wright
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Phallon Wright is a Dallas based photographer and mixed media artist. While Wright found her calling in photography at young age, she allows herself the constant exploration of other forms of creative and artistic expression. Wright views this as right, not a privilege, and as radical way to be, live, heal, and work.
Wright attended The University of Texas at Dallas, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Behavioral Sciences and Visual and Literary Arts. She is currently a member of the third cohort of studio artists at The Cedars Union, a non-profit art incubator located in the heart of downtown Dallas. |
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an interdisciplinary artist. My foundation is rooted in healing trauma through different modalities of creative expression. I explore human development through psychosocial and creative lenses, and aim to better understand how the arts foster healing the mind, body, spirit, and soul. Photography is fundamental to my practice, and my inspiration in that area motivates my exploration of other artistic expressions which include writing, design, fashion, and the relationships of images and text. Conceptual art, community engagement, and working with youth is my long-term focus.
