Peter LigonPeter Ligon lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
He received a BFA from the University of North Texas and an MFA from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU. He has had solo exhibitions at Mighty Fine Arts, RE Gallery, The Safe Room, Dahlia Woods Gallery, Gallery 219 at EFC, Lago Vista Gallery at RFC and Mildred Hawn Gallery at SMU. His work has been exhibited at Barry Whistler Gallery, CentralTrak, Dallas Contemporary, Gray Matters Gallery, Liliana Bloch Gallery, Meadows Museum, McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Plush Gallery in Dallas, 333 Montezuma Arts in Santa Fe, Red Mill Gallery in Johnson, Vermont and Galleri Rødhusgaarden in Pandrup, Denmark. He is a founding resident of the artist run studio cooperative Shamrock Hotel Studios in Dallas. He works in a range of 2D media including, oil, water color, ink and ink wash, monotype, and intaglio printmaking. His sources are predominately observational. His operative motives include the implementation of accidental or predetermined strategies in the interpretation of color and spatial relationships of the landscape and built environment. He currently teaches drawing, art appreciation, printmaking and painting variously at the University of Texas at Dallas, Eastfield Community College, and the SMU School of Continuing and Professional Education. |
