Artist Statement
The imagery in my paintings comprises this temporal dislocation in layers. These layers are important because they represent and parallel elements in real life. In my paintings time is a layer, place is a layer, and the mind is a layer. These layers spin around each other disparately, yet they sometimes interweave.
As a point of reference, I always portray the present as quite literally an out of focus setting. The past, future, or imaginary are painted within this setting as a layer that depicts what the mind guilelessly divulges. As abstract alternate planes, the lines create a warped perspective, sharp contrast, and a particular detachment from the present that indicate the distortion of the mind.
