Mikael Kory Taylor is a queer artist from Austin, TX whose work transcends boundaries and dismantles barriers for marginalized folks by challenging societal norms. With a unique blend of creativity and self-expression, MKT fearlessly explores themes of identity, love, and the human experience through their art. In the past 15 years, MKT has used their creative passion to explore various mediums of print, film and illustration. Their art lives somewhere in the intersecting influence of abstract and ominous positivity, thus, creating an environment of ambiguity and familiarity.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As an independent queer artist, my work is a deeply personal expression of my lived experiences, emotions, and perspectives as a member of the queer community. I use various mediums, such as painting, illustration, print or found materials, to explore themes of identity, self-discovery, love, and social justice. Through my art, I aim to challenge societal norms, break down barriers, and promote inclusivity and acceptance. I believe in the power of art to create dialogue, provoke thought, and inspire change. By sharing my authentic queer voice, I hope to empower others, amplify marginalized queer narratives, and contribute to a more diverse and equitable artistic landscape.
