Jonathon Kimbrell
Texas born artist Jonathon Kimbrell hails from Houston, however, grew up in West Texas surrounded by dirt, cowboys and blues music. Upon graduating from McMurry University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art, he relocated to North Texas and established Napkin Art Studios, his home base for fine art and design.
Since childhood, Kimbrell has been greatly influenced by numerous 20th Century artists, such as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha & Tom Wesselman, in addition to good music, film, classic comic books, advertising, mid-century advertising and design, Cold War propaganda, automobiles, obsolete printing processes, vinyl records and vintage package design. In various form and fashion, these elements find their way into Kimbrell's extensive body of work.
In the nearly ten years Kimbrell has been working as a professional artist his work has spanned the globe and can be seen in numerous galleries around the US, and has acquired many corporate and private collectors throughout the US, Europe and Asia.
Additionally, Kimbrell is also a graphic designer, advertising designer for Arts+Culture Magazine NTX, printmaker, photographer, and music blogger. His first book collecting the art of his successful "We Are Modern" series saw release in May 2011. Kimbrell currently lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
