Ro2 Art is proud to present James Zamora’s solo exhibition: Transitions No. 2. Zamora’s work is about our immediate reaction to what we see and how we internalize these visuals on a subconscious level. Zamora’s work features subjects from everyday life that may appear photorealistic at first glance, but have an affective painterly quality upon further inspection. Using the images captured through the lens of a camera as a reference point, Zamora then adds a distinctive human contingence to ordinary scenes and objects, creating colors and small nuances seen only in memory.

ARTIST STATEMENT
|
As a realist painter I am attracted to the technical complexities of everyday life. My paintings reflect all the characteristics from the visual relationships our eyes register to the subtleties of the subconscious. My paintings are often associated with photorealism, but as one inspects the paintings closer there is evidence of human presence. Just as when someone zooms into a photograph there will eventually be pixels, one can zoom into my paintings and see brushstrokes. I welcome the painterly character of my paintings while adding in the amount of details my eyes are able to record.
