about the artist
Elizabeth England was born in Fort Worth and went on to earn her BFA in painting from Texas A&M University – Commerce in 2014. After graduation, she traveled across the United States and Canada working commercially as a muralist. Creating art on massive walls instead of canvas, she had to re-learn how to paint with much bigger tools and even bigger construction equipment. During these years, her subject matter was highly focused on the local flora, fauna, and scenery found in her travels. This time served to further her artistic education and training and spurred a keen interest in both landscape art and the American Regionalism style. She now brings to her work a reverence for the divine in nature--seeking communion with both the spiritual and material worlds. She often combines magical, dreamlike, and mystical concepts in her otherwise naturalistic scenes. Sacred plants and fungi frequently serve as inspiration and feature prominently in the subject matter. These substances give us unparalleled access to other realms and altered states, acting as catalysts for healing our spirits, cultivating our compassion, and broadening our consciousness. Elizabeth recently returned from her life on the road to her cabin in the deep woods of East Texas where she paints, creates, and runs her independent illustration studio.
