Clay Stinnett
Media Meltdown
December 8, 2016 - January 31, 2017
Ro2 Art at The Magnolia
Second Floor Bar
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Dallas, TX) Ro2 Art is pleased to welcome artist Clay Stinnett for his solo exhibition, Media Meltdown, which features the artist's most recent paintings. For his new exhibition, the artist creates vibrant likenesses of figures from pop culture, recontextualizing familiar images in a realm of psychedelic flora and fauna. Stinnett describes Media Meltdown as: “a concentration of the process of blending unlikely combinations of references and a collision of source material, applied with a frenetic and hyperactive style of mark making.” These hybrid works, neon-hued and surging like live wires, are designed to “overstimulate, entertain, and confound.”
Since completed his BFA in Drawing and Painting from The University of North Texas in 2004, Stinnett has established a reputation around and Dallas for his active participation in the local art scene and a creative energy that is matched by few peers. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, December 8 from 6 to 8pm, with the show running through January 18, 2017. The artist will be in attendance at the opening. Media Madness will be on display at Ro2 Art AT THE MAGNOLIA, located at 3699 McKinney Avenue, Suite 100, inside the Magnolia Theatre at West Village.
