The opening reception will take place Saturday, September 17 from 7 to 10pm, and will run through October 15, 2011. The exhibition will take place at Ro2 Art's Downtown space, located at 110 N. Akard Street, between Main and Elm, on the ground floor of the historic Kirby Building.
For Art Depreciation 1301: Art before and after culture, Blay will use painting, sculpture, and photography to explore the boundaries between Art and culture.
About Christopher Blay
My work deals essentially with two concepts. First it responds to the philosophical implications of camera culture and the effects of images that transcode rather than translate information between object and viewer. The other aspect of my work, evident in the current exhibit, deals with art historical criticism through various devices and media, including performance.
