Brian K. Jones
Eat Your Vegetables!
February 11 - March 11, 2017
Brian Keith Jones earned his BFA in Painting from The University of North Texas in 1998. After completing his degree, he established a studio in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, where he has lived and worked for over 20 years, co-founding the annual Oak Cliff Visual SpeedBump Art Tour. Jones is also widely known for his role in the acclaimed Dallas art duo Chuck & George. The wild, yet symbiotic collaboration of Brian K. Jones and Brian K. Scott influences, and is influenced by each artist’s individual work, serving as a constant source of inspiration.
In 2013, Brian K. Jones garnered wide acclaim for his 'Meanwhile, Back in Dallas' exhibition, which featured paintings and animation of the artist as a burning Big Tex. For his upcoming show, Eat Your Vegetables!, Jones applies an over-the-top pop sensibility to further exaggerate the grotesqueness of his trademark caricatures.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Dallas, TX) Ro2 Art is pleased to present Brian Keith Jones’ solo exhibition 'Eat Your Vegetables!,' featuring bright new paintings in various orientations with graphically distorted images. For the new series, the artist follows the story of Little Bloata, a young girl first introduced in his comic UPCHUCK #1, who has difficulty finding balance between the newfound joy eating responsibly and a tendency to overindulge.
In discussing the paintings, Brian K. Jones admits that labeling the work as Pop Art is, “fraudulent in itself,” for neither the character nor his comic exist in popular culture – rather the series is more a regurgitation of his previous work; however, by introducing a “Pop Art Spin” to the already stimulating imagery, the complex compositions in contrasting colors create a nearly explosive sensory experience -- paralleling the narrative portrayed within the series.
