ABout The Artist
I was born in 1957 and raised in Bryan, Texas where I still live and work. I started doing art everyday as a teenager and have continued practically nonstop ever since then. I went to Sam Houston State University for a couple of years. Until I decided that I would be better served pursuing my own vision rather than doing class assignments. I lived out in Sam Houston National Forest with my pet monkey Mr. Dale. There I began to create a body of work that would be noticed by Murray Smither. He took photos and showed them to James Surls and Charmaine Locke. They were so impressed that they put me in my first major exhibit, The House Show at the Lawndale Annex in Houston. During this time I met the international cult hero, Mark Lombardi, who would introduce my work to the world. Followed by legendary gallerist, Gene Binder, who had several exhibits for me in Dallas and Koln,Germany. I've also had shows with Horwich-Lewallyn in Santa Fe, and Ghetto Gloss in Los Angeles and was represented by Gerald Peters Gallery and Kirk Hopper Fine Art in Dallas. My art is in many museum, corporate and private collections. Including the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

Artist Statement
In my creative journey, I'm guided by visions that take shape in my mind, each brimming with its own narrative. These narratives often carry themes that may whisper moral undertones. Picture rural landscapes and agrarian scenes, painting a canvas of simplicity and harmony with nature.
But here's where it gets intriguing—I venture beyond the human realm. Imagine fish with wisdom, birds with secrets, and hybrids blending human traits with vegetables. They populate my world, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy, captivating audiences with their enigmatic charm. Adding layers to my storytelling, Catholicism weaves its influence, with saints gracing my pieces, infusing them with depth and symbolism. Yet, amidst these influences, my ultimate aim is twofold: to entertain and to provoke thought. I aspire to offer a sanctuary of sorts, where imagination reigns supreme, and contemplation becomes an art form itself. |
