I was born in America, but I am a full blood Cambodian. War has tattered my family’s memories of their lives in the motherland. I do not speak the language but can understand he fragments of my elder’s sentences. I consume the traditional food, but cannot name half the dishes. The distance between my cultures is not a choice I made for myself. My research is to investigate the lost parts of myself. The materials common in my practice are materials gather from my nature. Rather that is traditional fabric, nylon, paint or things I pick up from the ground; it all mixed. The work plays with multiple media.
